I may have some higher resolution photos of it if you want to get a better look at the mechanism. Send me an email with the contact form on my webpage if you're interested.

sry first question was stupid, just had another look at the .gif on your site and noticed it was jointed twice

thanks a lot ur site is fantastic and the mechanism is ingenious ! way better than my seesaw-mechanism.but two questions remain:when only one foot is on the ground why doesnt the robot just fall over to one side because there is only one joint between the "main body" and the "leg" ?and the other question is: did you use the lego-turntable part ?thanx for your fast answer, im learning a lot from you here and im very grateful for that :)

I call it the Tilt-a-Ped.

The legs are lifted by rubber bands. When the body of the robot shifts over one of the legs, it pushes the leg down. When the body shifts off of a leg, the rubber bands pull the leg up.I explain it in more detail on my website. YouTube won't let me post a url here, but the url appears at the very end of the video.

how does the mechanism for lifting the legs work ?had a similiar project some time ago and i was using something like a seesaw, but failed because the gravity had much too high torque on the end of the seesaw...when i saw ur roboter i imediatelly noticed the moving thing between the rails.... and thought:"looks like a seesaw...."

Instead of the "pinion n rack" system, u might want 2 use the "parallelogram" mechanism. its much faster in shifting the RCX frm side to side

that was great, the counter-balance technique is a bit primitive, but hey, you can only do so much with the old mindstorms, i want to see what you could do with the updated version. You should try it, this is great :( |
