They grew too old and wanted to play rock'n'roll just like immortal did (look at what abbath does these days), but i'm totally fine with that. There are plenty bands playing the old darkthrone style (i.e. Pest(Swe) on their album Desecration).

Hey i've been a fan of Darkthrone since they started, and that whole riff at 0:57 has to be the best riff i've ever heard from them. it's so fucking cold it brings me to a place.
