Early forms of hard rock can be heard in the songs "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks, "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago" by The Yardbirds, "I Can See for Miles" by The Who, and "Revolution" and "Helter Skelter" by The Beatles

What I meant was, the very first note (the first HAAAAAAAA) seemed like the birth of metal to me. As if it were literally being born, coming out SCREAMING. Now THAT's metal. \m/

The birth of Heavy Metal? I'd say no. We all know that the first metal riff ever was in "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath and some riffs wrote before the aforementioned, like "Sunshine of your love" by Cream can be considered heavy metal. Although, this doesn't change the fact that this is a good riff, one of the best ever written by Queen and also one of the few good riffs written by 'em.
