They've gotta have their belts for a reason. And the fact that the black grappler is more agile and quick doesn't mean that he actually is a better grappler. If you've got great technique and a lot of experience, you can perform some submissions and sweeps as slow as you want and your opponent can't do anything about it.

Judo derived from jiu-jitsu. Jiu-jitsu was used by samurai to fight each other while clad in armor and includes lethal finishing strikes, Judo removes the finishing strikes and focuses more on throws than ground grappling. Brazilian Jiu-Jutsu combines the two. Check out the Human Weapon: Judo episode for more details

Very interesting, i'm a yellow belt and at my club they said as soon I hit the age of 16 they are going to hand me a blue belt cuz the techniques I mastered for the test are the ones needed to be mastered for the white to belt belt test.

Not in BJJ. Green is equivalent to a Blue belt. Orange and Yellow are space fillers to keep kids motivated. You can't get a real belt until you're 16 (I train with Bill "The Grill" Cooper - who's a phenom who got his green at 15 and now is obviously a premier grappler)

What? The black guy - Tyrone Glover - is one of the sickest guys out there and received his black belt shortly after this (tapped black belts including a Gracie in a tournament as a brown belt and is 3-0 in MMA including defeating Dean Lister who's won fights in the UFC). The run around is part of take downs and getting good openings for attacks. Judo is a derivative (safe and sport version) of Jujitsu, as is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (primarily ground focused). Not the other way around.

he jumps around the keep the momentum going and to be more dynamic in his movements (he feels more comfortable that way) its a demo, they have to show various techniques so maybe thats why. i dont move that much when i spar in judo. BJJ is so much like judo cause it came from it. and nice demo.

Man specialcream you must be crazy the black guy had way more technique!!!! The reason way he was moving a round so much is to be come a hard target to grab and set his takedowns by catch him a his 45 degree angle . |
