I've sat on the edge of that old pit! There were four old tyres at the bottom to cushion the impact of when the robots dropped into it: I bet that Roobarb was glad they were there to soften the blow of driving into the pit!*And yes, that new pit is bollocks. *M2 vs. Roobarb vs. Thor

I do agree, The old hexagonal arena they used, had a bigger pit but then along came the rectangular arena with a puny pit

I always thought that the pits that were deep and had the *Boom* (When the smoke comes out) were the best. To be honest, I think the Roaming Robots arena's pit needs to be a bit deeper, by about 20-30cm...what do you think?
