HPI V8 ? what?its an inline 6.wouldnt have thaught has Anti Lag.its obv setup/tuned correctly, just running bit rich. big turbos/power require lots of fuel :)

Its probabley A.L.S. (Anti Lag System).. makes the car backfire when it lets off the throttle so it keeps the turbo spinning between shifts.. kind of F***'s up turbos but makes some nice 1/4 mile runs..
