does he ever play sweep arpeggios?
Noxtailk (August 26, 2008 at 10:56 pm)
one thing i don't like about him, is that he don't plays the music he created at the studio, he mprovises 95% of the time, i would really like to see he playing the same thing as the studio, not just improvise at the stage, 'cause i go to the show to see the song of the cd, not improvises... but he1s my favorite guitar player after all! =D

dude, play phrygian, but raise the 3rd, that is the most exotic sounding scale ever! its the bomb.
Sodacake (August 25, 2008 at 11:36 pm)
yeah, i am. the phrygian mode is an awesome one for that flamenco feel.

best version of this song ever.. they should play guitar stuff like this on tv more often.

I can imagine he uses both. The 1st and 5th modes of the Harmonic Minor are used pretty heavily in shred. But I've read in interviews that he uses the diatonic phrygian and aeleon scales a lot, too.

do you mean natural *and* harmonic minor? i'm not trying to be offensive, just wondering. that distinction could be confusing to a lot of people who don't really know that there's a difference, know what i mean? he also uses e phrygian and e phrygian dominant, i believe, if you're a guitarist and would like to throw that into your playing. E Phrygian dominant is awesome. i use it in spanish and arabic sounding improvisations. are you a guitarist?
