China pre-Mao era had a promising start. When communism entered the scene everything went to shit. The West, with all our arrogance and mess, have the gift of 3 demensional thinking. Plasma engines, space travel, medical and scientific advances...almost everything you see, touch and smell today is the innovation of free thinkers. You dont get that by working under oppresive regimes. Gun powder? Well pre-communist inventions are not a surprise...besides we would have discovered it anyway.

@lcddg No China = no gunsbecause the Chinese invented gun powder which led to the creation of fireworks I can remember it was used even back in the late han dynasty I don't exactly know when it was made but if I was one of the Chinese strategists then I would have used fireworks to fight enemies.
