Getting the message to politicians? Politicians will always have their own agenda and at most will appease a public outcry with some small gesture to quiet the masses, certainly not enough to make any real impact on the possible state of the Earth.I may be wrong, but as far as I can see the average person doesn't have the luxury of opting for any column or row.

Your silver-bullet argument assumes that HUMANS are causing global warming and can affect it. In order to buy that argument, you need buy into that first and there is no definite conclusion. Good video/argument though.

This IS terrifying.

weather we or the sun or something else change the global climate. i think it probably better to air on the side of caution...if we cant make huge changes we cn start at home by making sure we recycle and use a compost and support greener products... one small step at a time u have to crawl before you can walk,, so do what you can whatever it might be...:)

that is the logic that he used.just so everyone knows, i am just clearing up somethings that i think some may have misheard. i am not tring to change your mind (i mean what a gooy process:D)
MasterAtherion (October 7, 2007 at 2:10 pm)
he says that if they spent the money on it and it didnt happen, in the worst case there would be a depression. then if we didnt spend anything and the worst happened, there would be a economic drepression from all the countries losing resources and land and from having fromthe many things happen, but instead of that being hte only thing there is more.two different causes, lead to the a similiar conclusion, but one, at the WORST case, has more bad things that happen
MasterAtherion (October 7, 2007 at 2:02 pm)
he also said that you couls do it yourself using more mild cases or changing the odds or whatever, try that then see what you think (always good to keep a somewhat open mind) :D

Gore made a lame video that looked like propaganda for the democrats. Does that mean we throw out the baby with the bathwater? I say no. Is he the only one who thinks that humans are causing global warming? NO. Those who don't want to do anything about global warming are simply self indulged and can't see past their own comfort. Still, I feel helpless and don't know what to do beyond the obvious small things.

My objection to this presentation is the presumptions contained in the lower/right box. We cannot say with certainty that if the planet warms up a few degrees, there will be more disease, war, dust-bowls, hurricanes etc. Don't make life decisions based on, as he says, "Granting the extreme". He admits that the box is the worst-case scenario, not a likely scenario. Yes, global warming is real but there is a lot of strong science that states that the Sun, and not humans, drive global temperatures.

The error in the logic is that if "Cost causes global depression" in row A/column 1, then why does it not cause the same in row B? It doesn't follow. Same cause, same effect would be a more rational conclusion.Truth is though that there is no reason to assume that the cost will cause a global depression. So there are two errors in the logic. But the thought is nice...
