Because at the moment it sounds like someone saying 'look-basically what I do is a rough Django impression, but I just find so much satisfaction in the physical motion of playing really really fast that I just can't help myself, and so I've spent more time on that than working on creating ideas'.It's great to depart from Django if it's an ARTISTIC departure, but all I see is a skin deep impersonation with way too many notes-not an original statement.He does have chops though-no denying that.

This is "The World Is Waiting for the Sunrise"... recorded by Django in 1949 in Rome during some of his last sessions with Grappelli. I highly recommend the Rome disc set.

For the beauty that's missing. Since Josho's already hitting correct pitches, it's not a lack of melodicism on his part that's preventing it from being as beautiful as Django's playing, it's the subtleties like the breathing of the music. |
