I believe it works but I am a bit surprised that it doesn't mix more than that. I mean alcohol and water doesn't mix well when pure (say, mixing 100% water with 94% alcohol), but in Whisky Rum etc. still have almost 60% water so I would expect the shots content to mix more. I am sure that if you make the path for the flow just a tiny bit too large, it would not work. It would not work either if one had a tiny hole punched in the centre of the card instead of having the flow along glass surface
