Secular Humanism IS a term that is out there and can even include theist who like that mentality.Unfortunately, it's not "catchy" enough for most people to identify with. It has the opposite effect that the term "atheist" has. Most attach a negative feeling with "atheist" due to the history of how people perceived them. Secular Humanism just lacks ANY feeling to it. It's too "cold" of a term. And again, can include those that aren't part of what I'm suggesting.

I agree that Atheists,Agnostics and Deists are not necessarily anti-theist.One could be an Atheist for example and not really care either way if others are theists.Deists are actually theists themselves.Check out Secular Humanism I really do think at least the vast majority of atheists, agnostics and deists think. I agree we should not be hostile to theists in general. It would be better to simply argue for and provide a good example for what we do believe.I plan on making a page to that effect.

KingHeathen, There is already a "banner" Deists, Atheists and Agnostics can use. It's called Secular Humanism.

agnostics don't "think there is something out there"...they "don't know".I never said "humanitarian"...I said "humanist" which you appear not to know about. You obviously watch albinokangaroo's idiotic video which ALSO missed the point. Did you even WATCH the video? Did you even pay ATTENTION to what point I was making? I was looking for a term to put all those that WERE NOT theists into one group. If you read through the comments you'll also see that we agreed "non-theist" was better. |
