Originally envisioned in the late 1950s as a walk-through wax museum featuring pirates from history, the attraction evolved into a boat ride through complex show scenes filled with Audio-Animatronics characters after the 1964 New York World's Fair, which brought about several advances in Disney's theme park technologies. Instead, humorous sketches of fictional pirates by Imagineer Marc Davis inspired the animatronic diorama seen throughout the final attraction.Opening on March 18, 1967, Pirates of the Caribbean was Disneyland's largest Audio-Animatronics project to date and was the last attraction Walt Disney was involved in designing. The portrait of the female pirate above the bar in the Crews Quarters scene is an original work by Davis. The pirate captain in the scene where captured women are auctioned as brides is a test bed for updates and developments to Audio-Animatronics technology; many innovations are tried on him first. As a result, his movements are far more lifelike and expressive than virtually any other Audio-Animatronics figure in all of Disneyland.disneyland disneyland disneyland disney's california adventure disney's california adventure adventureland tomorrowland fantasyland toontown magic kingdom animal epcot frontierland vintage retired yesterland old home movies great moments lincoln main street usa cinema star tours space mountain honey i shrunk the audience captain eo peoplemover mission to mars america sings innoventions skyway autopia carousel of progress matterhorn bobsleds alice in wonderland pinocchio's daring journey peter pan's flight snow white's scary adventure disneyland youtube poop circarama american journeys tokyo disneyseas

It means having your vase removed surgically.

they put Jack in later. This video was taken before they added him (and Barbossa).

I wish they would've used more of these set pieces for the other movies. They only had a few that were recognizable.

I think I'm glad they didn't change it much; the ride is like a tradition now. Since both the ride and the movie are based on Walt Disney's books, they almost have to put Sparrow in there somewhere. (Either that, or replace Johnny Dep with someone who looks more like the animatronic guy!) Too bad about the fog problem though.

THEY DIDNT CHANGE THIS RIDE the ride is the same as it was before they changed it all they did was replaced some of the pirates with jack sparrow and added fog effects so people who have alergies to fog affects can no longer use this ride.
