Finally I found it. Listened high and low to find it. Ahh... Voila. 'Didn't know its name but knew it was a Mancini. 'Was always haunted by its mystique and exotica.

One of the most evocative pieces of music I've ever heard. We're it not for the Big Lebowski Soundtrack, it would be nearly impossible to find this song on CD. If memory serves, it was on the "Mr Lucky goes Latin" record that I would be surprised if ever re-released on disc. Thanks for the post!
