Actually the original series was made in Australia (not the USA) in 1976. Yes it was shown as part of Captain Kangaroo.

This is a different series, by the same name, which dates from the late 1980s or early 1990s. It was made in Australia. The original 1970s series had different characters, and was made in the USA. The short little segments would air on "The Captain Kangaroo Show".
