One of the first lessons in life learned was if you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing what so ever...How about for those posting negatives? I challenge you all to find three things you DID like about what he expressed in his playing and focus on what one can learn from those three things and discard what wasn't appealing to you and leave it at that. Mischa, so clearly doesn't need your approval, he has already proven himself a great artist.Another cellist who learned a lot

Artistry is destroyed in music if the written music--ie. the specific technical notes on the page (which are true and unavoidable) are not perfected to a certain extent. All trained musicians/listeners have a particular pain threshold of tolerance for out of tune notes--mine is low. It's hard to look past the notes and hear any music if the music is too ill-prepared. We all have bad performance days—unfortunately, video makes it harder to have these days and get away with them. :-)

Don't bash Maisky, he is one of the best cellists. Let's see if you could actually ever in your life play like him!!!

I agree with you completely. The fact that famous cellists, violinists, etc can endure ignorant comments is just impressive. It's not like they're better or even have any decent comments.

bloody rude filming without permission. im a musician we have to make money you know.

I'm a cellist myself, I have perfect pitch. I had a hell of a time watching Maisky play. He made mistakes yes, but he did a lot of other things which overshadowed those mistakes.

Yes it is supposed to be fun, but when it sounds BAD like Maisky does most of the time, it is not fun, especially for people with trained ears.

Geez people, take it easy. From the look of the performer's attire and the fact that there was a dog barking, this performance was no doubt informal which means that Maestro Maisky probably did not practice for this concert. I'm sure if he did, he could hit this piece spot on technically. But as it is, this is a great musical effort. Just remember: it's suppose to be FUN.

the e major and c# scale before the descending chromatic runs are so out of tune so is the rest of the performance. What an utter phony. He needs to get a haircut too.
