Actually, what the uploader meant by "1st logo" was that it was the first logo with the current lion used in MGM films today. They used different lions prior to this logo.

I know what he did. He shot the lion from a TV set from the inside and he composited it with a still background. Nice!

Yes, his mane was cut. When he was 3, he appeared in this variation. This lion got a haircut. The 1st roar is that he bellowed.
