There are two different systems of determining the notes. One of them has to do with the keys on the piano: the most left c is the c1, the highest is the c7. This system is used in America, for example.The other makes the central c the c1, the c at the right end of the piano is the c4. The left octaves are named otherwise. That means the c3 in this last system is the c6 in the other.
