So much fun to see how people respond to this incredible, foundational performance of cool jazz by a performer at the zenith of her craft. "High," "wannabe Las Vegas" - incredible!Such control and joy and the pleasure that can come from wisdom about life - absolutely brilliant.

I appreciate your vote of confidence for Miss O'Day but the shots from the stage show what appears to be an early festival just getting underway. To me, the crowd seems to be casually enjoying the performance. You have to keep in mind that she was an active performer at the time. Our appreciation for her today is heightened by the fact that she is no longer with us. Also, some of the crowd scenes might be out-of-context insert shots. At any rate, I love the clip, including the crowd. Great film.

I would guess by the look on the faces of those in the audience that they were expecting maybe Doris Day, or Irene Day, or even Dennis Day. They certainly didn't seem to be into even what the arrangement behind Anita was. There is practically no head bobbing or foot tapping which tells me they were all flat-line!Anit ranks right up there with the 20 or 30 women who could or can really put jazz singing across.

i just saw an interview where she explains what she sings..; it's like looking at someone in the audience who is wearing stripes on his hat and she would sing how the stripes go :)if she's high here or not i'll leave that in the middle lol
