I love how there are so many different types of goth music... honestly.... yea they were darkwave, but darkwave derived from goth rock... with a tint of electronica. but as far as S.S. goes .... they are more goth rock than darkwave, CruxShadows and the like are much more darkwave than S.S.

Thanks:) Yeah you're not kidding about thestereotypes, it sucks big time! But your average person usually believes what mass media & organized religion says about a subject, instead of actually experiencing something firsthand themselves or learningto separate fact from fiction.All we can do is prove them wrong by beingpillars of the community. We don't have tochange who we are, just show them that wearen't the way that we've been portrayedby those who hate us!

Well yeah there's bands like Type O Negative that even Jerry Seinfeld loves & endorses, then there are bands & places that the masses don't even know of! I think once a genre gets too commmercialized it loses it's value as aan agent of change. That's really the point Iwas trying to convey.

OMG!!!! I LOVE YOU LOLS! you are one of the few i met that actually understand that conformity is impossible to avoid....! just stick to who you are, whatever that is, you dont need to accept the label though, but i am proud to be called goth!

hmmm i dont consider goth "underground" anymore... it has plenty of publicity, albiet negative, and there is plenty of collected knowledge on the culture....

LOL, i liked ur last two lines.... I agree though! it def isnt.... too many stereotypes out there about the gothic culture.... i prefer the term culture because really... thats what it is..... a scene is much smaller and more subject to fads....

/agreeironically, with out this subculture i probably wouldn't have made it through school. there's a misconception that this genre of music and life style promotes depression and worse. i couldn't disagree more. look, it's a release. worst thing a person can do is bottle in such emotions. let it out, share it, immerse in it, damn it, revel in it.

Like all genres, there are posers on the Goth scene. Goth is not about being an asshole topeople, nor is it about cutting your wrists & blowing the school up either...
