In Egypt, a lot of people were black, don't know if you noticed, but uh, AFRICA? Ring any bells? Now, the reason they picked Aaliyah for Akasha, is because, watch the movie. Don't you think she depicted an Egyptian Empress quite well?

Read the sleeping beuty thing. Erotic novel series she did as under another name. There's also the witching hour and that whole type series as well.

The movie was different from the book, but If the race of the queen has to be the issue then something is wrong with you people. Yes they left things out, but do you have to hate the movie because the queen was black. Aaliyah did an awesome job as Akasha. The director had stated that it would be more fitting to have a black actress play an Egyptian queen. Just for reality and historical reasons. The movie was great...and soundtrack was 5 stars.

What kind of coat is he wearing? Is that a cassock? I thought he was against religion in the books and movies.

Yes, IWTV and The Vampire Lestat, and I'm planning on reading all of them =]I didn't even like the film actually, even without the fact that it's a total rape of the books.
