i am sooo glad that all of you guys/gals are privy to exactly what her thoughts and feeling were as she wrote this song.Carole Kings ability to express emotions which with we can all empathize is an example of the best of what this world can offer. Period.People that "think" they can offer generalized "interpretations" of someone elses art and try to explain it to one another are examples of the worst this world has to offer.

Sometimes love dies like a candle, although burning bright, will fade alway slowly and ultimately become extinguished. Its not that there are bad people. Its just that as you know someone more you KNOW someone more and its not what you wanted.

But this song is solely about a relationship gone sour.

I am a man too and I must admit she has to be one of the top lyrical geniuses of alltime. I love this song and the Isley Bros. version of her song. Isley's version is darker and bitter sounding. Carol's version is kind where although disappointed of the breakup she has no hard feelings because they gave the relationship a go and it wasn't meant to be.

The soundeffects for the song is excellent. Very crisp!!

No the love she had for him has died and she can't fake it. In other words she can't fake being in love with someone so in essence its too late to try to be in love since the love is forever gone
