http://www.thomasgrillo.comOri... invented by Richard Waters, the waterphone contains a small amount of water which moves around inside the waterphone, and causes constant changes in pitch. This particular waterphone was produced by an unknown sculptor in New York City under the brand name "Aquasonic".We correctly call it the "waterphone" as the name rightfully reflects the name of it's original inventor, Richard Waters, and the fact that it uses water to help produce the strange etherial tones.Watch as Thomas Grillo endures one minor technical difficulty after another as he attempts to demonstrate the Aquasonic Super Mondo Waterphone.Copyright 2007 Thomas Grillo

I wish I did have a cello bow. I wouldn't have been striking the tone rods with the wood part of the bow. I was using my violin bow, which I nearly destroyed when I snagged some hairs on a tone rod. ;)

You can find waterphones at Richard Water's web site richardwaters. You can also find knock-off models like the one seen here on e-bay.

Where can I get a waterphone? I'd like to have one, too.

Yeh, we did use the waterphone to make lots of cool affects for a movie recently.

The waterphone is more of an af an effects instrument than a melodic one. It's meant to make the audience feel creepy in scary scenes of movies.

actually I really want one, one could make DOZENS of music, and aqua effects with it.
