It's sad to see how low GM has sunk since these cars were made. While all makes of cars are mechanically better and safer than in 1955, GM has slacked off in style as well as quality. My dad took me to a Motorama in 1959. I remember the anticipation every fall, when the cars would arrive at the dealers all covered up, and you had to wait until the introduction day to see the new ones. The idea of "planned obsolescence" worked well in the 50's. No one wanted to be driving last year's model.

Detroit: why can't you make these exact same body styles today with 21 st century technology instead of your current boring rental car look. We want cars with excitement like this, TODAY.

Ridiculous. Impractical. Gas-guzzling. I don't care. I want one. Hell, I'll take one of each! But I'd settle for just a black Cadillac convertible (for sunny summer days) and a red Nomad;-) |
