You are right though and I was wrong looking back on my first comment "I hate to say it and point it out but PUNK started as fashion. Its beginnings are closely tied to clothes n shit." It didn't start as a fashion that came later. I'll concede. Thanks for making me look back up the roots of TRUE PUNK.

"rebelling against traditional ways" which they did with clothes and fashion besides the attitude and music, you take away the unique look that was different from everyone else and you take away a large part of the movement.

the band had been together for 3 years before john joined. he joined in 75. the other 3 guys thought they were starting a classic rock band. they were NORMAL people, not rebellious ones. they surely didn't dress 'punk' until later. john would walk around wearing his outrageous clothes which made him a good candidate. maybe you're right, they were sold before, but john just made his own, uninfluenced by malcolms store simply to be a nuisance. but since you copied & pasted, you still lose

By 1973 the band members were spending time at Don Letts's Acme Attractions and the more upmarket Let It Rock, a 1950s-themed clothes shop in the Kings Road, Chelsea, area of London. Let It Rock was owned by former New York Dolls manager Malcolm McLaren and his partner Vivienne Westwood; the shop specialised in "anti-fashion", selling the drapes, slashed T-shirts, brothel creepers and fetish gear later popularised by the punk movement. "closely tied together" Sir DoomAss

no douche, punk started off as people rebelling against traditional ways. malcolm mclearen, who started the sex pistols, was looking for a 'get rich quick' scheme and sold pre made 'punk' clothing thus creating the fashion.
