As far as songs by Zeppelin are concerned. Believe me when I tell you, not only do I know all of them, I've also played most in previous bands and such, so I know how good they are as musicians, BUT some people just can't let go of the old classic standards of talent.Page is a living legend irrefutably so, but techniques and such have changed as each subsequent generation has build upon the former in regard to talent and the foundation for it. Therefore, Petrucci is twice as good as Page, LOL.

and thank you, i enjoy a good arguement, especially with someone who knows something about music. I think as musicians we are biased towards certain music we like because of what we play, I can see this might be the case here.

Jimmy Page could crush John Petrucci, not in speed and tapping and shit, but pure soul. Have you ever listened to Achilles Last Stand? Thats the closest to a Dream Theater sound Zeppelin ever got, and if you think that didnt inspire DT then you are one oblivious motherfucker. That solo sounds like the guitar is crying, page didnt need to do arpeggio sweeps and all that technical bland emotionless shit because he knew that less is more.

There is no deny that music is getting worse and worse as time goes on. Led Zeppelin was the greatest most versatile band in the world and not to mention the heaviest. I'm sure from a drummer's point of view John Bonham is no double bass pedal wielding fiend douche like everyother band in the 80's, but he gets the job done and sounded like a fucking thunderstorm. the only other drummer i hold higher then him is Keith Moon.

very nice, you've been a drummer for 30, that has alot to do with this arguement. and yes motherfucker i do play an instrument which i understand quite well, its guitar. i've been at it heavily for 4 years, and while that pales in comparison to your 30, i am also not a 42 year old man who has nothing better to do then reply to people's comments. and you want a band that possess' their talent today? well thats just not gonna happen, but i dont listen to today's music either captain.

And so another loser who isolates the speed concept in order to try and negate the heart and soul put into the inception of the music itself.Stop trying to make the fact that Petrucci can shred better than anyone you know a negative factor to the degree that losers like you think he possesses no other attribute musically.Dream Theater got the ball rolling for most of these copy cat jerk offs. So ya, you're right most have taken that to extremes, but DT set the stage for them, so piss off.
