Yep, you got that right. I have this shit on vinyl. It sounds better than anything on the radio right now...The Word Girl, Absolute. This is a great blast from the past...I stand firm that the 80's was the best decade in music EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's interesting that you would equate this to TL&JJ. Sonically, yeah it's obviously alike, but not many pick up on the compositional approach similarities. They both have strong music comp backgrounds (i.e. they know the names of the chords they're play, they know what melodies "fit" over those chords and why, etc.). If you listen to Shannon's "Let the Music Play" and Herbie Hancock's "Rockit", you'll hear similar compositionally cool ideas, as this. SP and Nik Kershaw are greatly underrated.

Marvelous song. He was always WAY ahead of his time (and gorgeous to boot).

Before NERD, Timbaland, and all them other Hip-Hop/R&B producers, Green and his NY team were doing it first. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Jam and Lewis were digging this up in Minneapolis. I'm pretty sure Janet Jackson's "Control" was inspired by the Scritti sound.

wow. it's odd how ahead of their time the production is. all that glitchy shit going on with the samples and shit -- it took 20 years for house and techno to bring that shit back.i give props to the producers.

She's B.J.Nelson, a celebrated 80's session vocalist who sang backup on Scritti's Cupid & Psyche album as well as on a duet of sorts ("A Little Knowledge")with Green. Their voices always blended together to make such a cool, silky coo, I think that's why they put her in the video as well. It trips me out how they don't react much!

This was the first song I heard by Scritti Politti one Sunday on a New York radio station that was playing international music songs.I'm so glad I listened that day because I ran out and bought the record later on that year and have been a fan since. The most different song I've ever heard and the best.Unique.
