Personally, I think he was a much better guitarists when he was a heroin addict. He became too self conscious and restrained after he cleaned up. You only see flashes of the greatness he displayed as a guitar player since this album came out...especially after the 70s.

That kicked all grades of ass, esp. the Carl Perkins segment. Eric C. is a generous giant among guitarists, he totally let Carl shine during their number together. God rest your souls, Johnny and Carl. And God bless Eric Clapton, too. ok i'm done.
