Lee mavers was recently seen making music at Pete Doherty's house!

saw them in Atlanta at the now defunct Cotton Club. Best band I saw there - and saw Inspirals, Ride, Lush, etc...even when I visited Liverpool in 2004 Lee Mavers name was spoken with hushed reverance. We won't be blessed with one like him soon.

That album was a pure gem. Play it through again sometime- all of the songs are catchy. It reminds me of The Ocean Blue's first album, in the way it waas just a pure crystalyzed sound that captures an era. Kind of one hit wonders, though. What ever happened to them?

"still, the la's album is to rock music what citizen kane is to film -- a masterpiece produced by a genius who never equaled it again. & that's too bad but the masterpiece does exist & that can only be good"i couldn't agree more... i listen to that album and have a weird feeling of despair at the end... not because the m usic's crap... it's not; but because the freshness of that album will never be recaptured anywhere else... sad.

Supposedly, during the recording session Lee M. would complain about amp leads being too yellow. You have to love the guy. |
