why not a huge fused-sign? enough to the flame/iris of the eye be visible?

But that's innately weaker if the Tree is the true sign.Remember, the larger the Elder Sign, the more effective.In the fused-sign the branch is tiny in the pupil of the eye. You'd need it to be massive if that was what you were relying on.Better take no chances and have a large medallion/charm with the Flame-Eyed Star on one side and the Elder Branch on the other.

a Shoggoth is a shapeless giant "thing".I thought the Call of Cthulhu: the dark corners of the earth had a pretty good representation of it.
