I call him Dong DeLeon because he stands on that corner at Ponce DeLeon Ave.

Willie lived down the hall from me until a fire and now lives upstairs. He is the gentlest, friendliest and most cheerful person you could be privileged to know. Though I've known him for years, his gender and wardrobe still confound me. Just return his smile when you go by, and I think he'll have accomplished what he meant to do. Thanks for making a video about my lovely neighbor.

there is a white huge viking like "subhuman" white man that is his competition nicknamed "bigis dickis" I kid you not so its equal territory Not sure if hes still in Atlanta actually but he was in the mid 90's!

And?
FemInCharge (March 31, 2008 at 8:39 pm)
I know, I can't stand that. If anyone ever talks about racism/sexism all of a sudden, white males particularly, take everything out of context and separate history from the present. In this sense, they can pretend to validate their support of oppression.

FemInChargeI used to get upset with the white boyz over this kinda thing myself but, being an Atlanta native (I actually grew up riding the elementary school bus by Terry every weekday morning) I know what that they (the white boyz) understand what they are doing here. They know that this is racism but it's new school racism. Not like old school where you do it then laugh or attack. Now you do it, then you ALWAYS deny it or pretend to not understand what is happening. Just the way it goes.

White males used to compare black males being well endowed to animals, or it being something barbaric...perhaps "subhuman". He used that word in the video and it definitely wasn't a coincidence that it matches up well with the racist history of white males.
FemInCharge (March 31, 2008 at 9:07 am)
Exactly. I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed he said "subhuman". For the people that disagree, if atlien991 is wrong, how did you know it was about skin color? That's exactly the point. We all know the association between the word "subhuman" and racism. The guy in the video grew up in the same culture we did. He knows the association too. The stereotype of black males beeing well endowed was actually started by white males and it actually started as a negatibe thing.

Color/race isn't the issue here-- that guy is just plain weird. |
