If you want to see a video that can give you an insight into how bad things really are in Tibet watchTibet: A Buddhist Nun Tells Her Storywhere 15 teenage nuns were imprisoned, tortured and 14 of the 15 died. The sole survivor tells her story. Just watch the first 75 seconds, as the story is not very pleasant after that.have a nice day

"[Tibet] is entirely closed & witnesses unimaginable things. In March 2008, 20,000 people disappeared with no trace during the upraising in Tibet. Individuals attempting to escape over the border are being shot like in a shooting-range.We saw filmed material & photos taken out by refugees of Tibet. If a shown to a wider audience, all worldwide human rights institutions would unanimously respond to this crime against humanity."--Vytautas LandsbergisLithuanian film-maker, 9/3/2008

Tibetans are subject to arbitrary arrest and detentionTorture still prevails in Chinese prisons and detention centresEnforced disappearances, where a person is taken into custody and the details of their detention are not disclosed, continue to occur. The 11-year-old 11th Panchen Lama has been missing since his status was announced in 1995.Today, it appears the Chinese are using Tibet as a dumping ground for their, and foreign, nuclear waste.tibet(.)net(Central Tibetan Administration)

The Chinese official said that there was evidence that the Dali Lama clique was behind the protests. I find that facinating, because when Western officials and Western media asked to see the evidence the Chinese government remained silent on the subject. If the Chinese governemnt can't produce the evidence, why is it so quick to blame it on the Dali Lama? Makes one wonder what kind of hidden agenda there is.

The feudal serfdom under a theocracy constituted the ruling power of old Tibet. The Tibetan people suffered exploitation and had a generally miserable existence. In accordance with the wishes of the Tibetan people, the central government quickly quelled this rebellion, and began instituting the democratic reforms and abolishing the feudal serfdom. A million of Tibetan serfs were liberated, and would henceforth no longer be sold, transferred, or forced to labor as chattel.
