Few pictures of Mekelle City,the capital of Tigray state in Ethiopia,Africa.AGID CANADA Book & Journal Donation Project News Update No.7.The northern city of Mekelle is one of the most pleasant places to visit in Ethiopia. The people are nice, the streets are wide and good for walking. As a foreigner, one of the most pleasant things about visiting Mekelle is the lack of hassle from locals - there are no crowds following you, no calling out of 'you, you' or 'money, money'. People very pleasantly leave you alone. Within 80 kilometers of Mekelle there are reputed to be over 120 rock hewn churches, which makes Mekelle a stop off point or central resting place for visitors. From here day trips to the churches around Wukro or Geralta are easily arranged. The town itself has many sites worth visiting. It is a good sized city but easy to get your bearings, and most places are walking distance.

Mekelle is full of DORONA (ABUARA). So i advice you to cover it more w/ greanery & asphalts. Tell this to Gebru Asrat.

I grow up in Addis Ababa. I am happy to see Mekelle city growing because we need more cities in Ethiopia. Keep working hard people. I am proud to be Ethiopian and so should you.

Security precautions and services for children age ten and under are being finalized. Instant photo opportunities and interval amusements are being arranged. There is no end to the variety of festivities.
