Why did Dil Se fail in india?

Yes, this is the song they used in the movie "Inside Man" but the Indian movie "Dil Se" came out with this song first in 1998. "Chaiyya Chaiyya" not only reached the charts in India/Pakistan, but also became popular in England. The song is sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Sapna Awasthi, with lyrics by Gulzar.

this music is so cool! id like to study more western music but i don't know where to start. i feel that as a solo guitarist there are a lot of things missing in my playing such as the versitality of other cultures music. doesnt western music have 24 notes in an octave instead of 12?

I'm dancing to this (up to about 3:50) in a show, and I love it. From my admittedly limited and Westernized perspective, I adore Indian music. There's something so vibrant and alive in it that I don't hear as much in American music.

Never thought Id actually like an Indian song. Guess its gotta be thrown in something American like how it was placed in the beginning and end of the movie Inside Man. Those people on that train have some set of onions.
