Ray Emery = Problem Child = short-term NHL career (unless he sees the heavens open up,has an epiphany and completely changes). See also Theo Fleury.

if anyone says that emery sucks they don't know their hockey because last year the only reason emery play bad is because of his injuries (wrist, pulled groin, etc)so then they replace him with Gerber. Emery didn't like it to will because when he was healthy they never played him and thats why he got piss off and started to cause trouble. If u guys want to know why emery save percentage is so low it is because most of the games he played emery was not healthy.

You seriously waited all this white to reply? I don't see how anything has changed? He is not a good NHL goalie, but he is not a fluke. Go read a book, try not to be an idiot.

Hey, where's emery now...told ya, dumbass.
NShark8 (July 24, 2008 at 2:16 am)
i agree, kind of... I think yes he has a lot of potential, that being said, the amount of off ice distractions he amassed was too much, and may hinder his oppurtunities for the short run any-way...He needs to get much better on the mid-blocker side aswell. I dont think however that russia will help him all that much, he doesnt get any NHL caliber shots, and really no goalie in the past has come from europe and made huge impacts, Thomas is the only one that comes to mind now...

i don't know, i would just think after leading your team to the cup and losing out on it, you'd come back the next year hungrier than ever to try to get back to that point to win the whole thing...he certainly didn't seem very determined this year and took a major step backwards in both development as a hockey player and maturity, in my opinion...i wish him the best of luck, but from watching him, i can very much see him as an andrew raycroft...a good first year or two and then...CRASH AND BURN!
SENSNETWORKcom (July 23, 2008 at 2:51 am)
Highly disagree. Come back in 3 years and tell me that Emery is overrated. He has huge potential and is still maturing. It takes time for goaltenders to develop. That being said, he did not lead the Sens to the Cup. He played good enough to win, but not great enough to steal some games.
jmiller006 (July 23, 2008 at 12:14 am)
i said it all throughout the playoffs in 2007 and said it all throughout this year (most of which he didn't play)...ray emery was one of the most overrated goaltenders ever when people were praising him...some of the goals he gave up in the playoffs a couple years back were inexcusable...if ottawa had a better goalie, they would have had a much better shot at the cup. |
