"Scott Walker: 30 Century Man" is a long-overdue look at one of the most influential and enigmatic figures in rock history. The film will explore his music and career, from his early days as a jobbing bass player on the Sunset Strip, to mega-stardom in Britain's swinging 60's pop scene as lead singer of The Walker Brothers, to his evolution into one of the most astonishing soundmakers of the last few decades. He's 63 years old and is about to release his first album in over 10 years, "The Drift" on 4AD on June 20th (although the album is now available on iTunes). The film will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the album as well as interviews with friends, collaborators, and fans including, among others:David Bowie, Radiohead, Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), Brian Eno, Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz), Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy), Marc Almond, Alison Goldfrapp, Sting, Dot Allison, Simon Raymonde (Cocteau Twins), Richard Hawley, Rob Ellis, Johnny Marr, Gavin Friday, Lulu, Peter Olliff, Angela Morley, Ute Lemper, Ed Bicknell, Evan Parker, Benjamin Biolay, Hector Zazou, Mo Foster, Phil Sheppard, Pete Walsh, and more.Directed by Stephen Kijak, who brought you the delightfully deranged documentary CINEMANIA (a profile of 5 of NYC's most manic film buffs), this is a different form of obsession altogether. Inspiring god-like devotion from fans, Scott Walker's has a cult that has grown considerably since his 1995 release "Tilt", a dark and difficult masterwork. His new album takes that sound further than anyone could have imagined...

that stuff in the studio is someone with too much time, too much money and someone who takes himself and pop music far far too seriously. if he'd worked a proper day in his life maybe he'd be too tired to have bad dreams.

How can someone in the US see this movie?
dowling1981 (June 23, 2008 at 9:58 am)
But a question's status as self-explanatory is surely subjective to each individual, no?
Welloiledcog (June 20, 2008 at 10:57 pm)
Because asking self-explanatory questions deserves no reply.

Why would I ask them if I knew the answer?
Welloiledcog (June 19, 2008 at 10:15 am)
Yes - but it has to have some sort of credibility wouldn't you agree? Kind of an ambiguous question you've have there. As are you referring to me, or the world in general. Either way, like myself, maybe you should have a go at answering your own questions once in a while too.

Can you accept the need for change?
Welloiledcog (June 17, 2008 at 8:25 am)
In some respects I agree with what you say about Bowie. His priority isn't music as such. A talent nevertheless, as his ego and status have always appeared more important to this man. Scott's not pretentious, which is why Bowie has so much adoration for him.

I think you were bored weren't you? (rhetorical) And the same kick you got from typing such as you have, I do with this post to you.

It's ok Morganissima - you just don't get him. You're too literal, again people need to learn on multi-levels - ambiguity is challenging, but it's more closer to the truth than anything else we'll ever know.
