County? Depends on who sings it and who releases it. Merrilee Rush could never be confused with a CW singer and she charted this song #7 in 1968. Somewhere about here Billie Davis, an English gal did her version. Skeeter Davis on the other hand is the very epitome of CW and did her version in 1973. Juice did hers in 1981 and it charted both Pop and CW. And of course Jill Johnson did her version last year. It is probably safe to say a love ballad is a love ballad pop or CW.

HA! This isn't country! Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty and whatnot was country. This was the ending of hippy music era, and the beginning of the 80s. Before the big hair bands...country....HA! My ass...

Yup, it's country. I've heard it before, LONG AGO. I was still in the cradle. Dang, I still can't believe that it's been around so long...

Is this considered country? Well anyway, it's an amazing song and loved by me even though I wasn't even alive when it came out. My Mom had the tape, yes TAPE, of this song and listened to it a lot when I was a kid way back when. |
