In metal the types of singer vary greatly. In his particular "field" of the genre Tate is probably the best. Definitely top 10 though. However as far as frontmen go it's between Freddy Mercury and Bruce dickinson. Not the best singers in my eyes but they stand out more than anyone in rock/metal.

Personally I disagree, but I would say that Tate is top 10 male rock vocalists ever, and I know that Rockenfield is damn good ;)Just so that you know I'm not voting some pop trash above these guys, in my opinion Freddie Mercury is the greatest rock vocalist ever (although Tate may well be technically stronger, I wouldn't disagree with that), and the best drummer alive I may put Vinnie Colaiuta (rock drummers I'd put Mike Portnoy and Jason Rullo up there).
