I find that with a nice sounding horn and mouthpiece to begin with - you will play differently. I could never really do ballads at all on my tenor 82Z with Meyer 5MM. Switched to a Selmer Soloist D and now I blow more long tones (and actually enjoy the sound, unlike before). The setup matters.

I love the selmer Paris saxes in general. I own a 5 Digit 1962 mark VI and though i have a good sound. that mark VI does the rest. i love my sax. and you are a good player

Hey, thanks! You probably right, but a good horn is half of the rent. I love these old horns, they have so much character. So longmos

Beautiful horn, beautiful sound, but before I give the horn too much credit, it's YOU that sounds good. I've spent thousands of dollars and years trying to find the "ultimate setup", but in the end, I always sound like me. Great job.

Incredible sound of this Cigar Cutter alto ... It sounds like a tenor. Marvelous ...

Mossite: I have added you to my favorites. You get such a great sound out of all of your saxophones. You sure take good care of the horns---they look better than new. Keep adding more tunes please! Leebm29

Beautiful sound. Very well played! I think the Cigar Cutter can do a real nice job on Ballads. I use a Mk VI alto and tenor. I also like the Conn 10M for ballads on tenor. |
