the roots are the illest crew in hip hop. This vid shows that they are rare because of their ability to remain for over 10 years and still be dope as hell. This is real hiphop. They actually talk about shit they do, unlike all those kids in the studio talkin about killin other kids...when in reality theyve never done that.Roots crew forever, this is real hip hop right here.

you have to understand that when Rakim dropped, it was another step in the evolution of hip-hop, that's why his name is always dropped

2 of the most underrated mc's in the game are black thought and busta

the only mcs that are on his level in my opinion are kweli and nas. but black thought is truly one of if not the greatest and i wish people could realize this

I can tell you Bro...It was a great to a teenage during the 90's !!!! Dancing at parties all night long on pure Hip Hop...Then the DJ would just switch to some Total, Zhane or R Kelly love songs and we were all trying to «squeeze» the «favorites» on these! HaHaHa I miss

Why do people always name drop Rakim, as if his rhymes still stand up to the best lyricist of today. No disrespect intended, but they don't.He had his time on top, but he isn't near Black Thought's ilk. Times changed, and the average level always rises as the art progresses. There's a plethora of MCs out there now who can spit a rhyme that's technically superior to Ra's spits. It's not a slight on Rakim, it's just how thing progress.
