Wow, all these years I thought he was African American. I guess this proves ethnicity is irrelavent to talent. Best of blue eyed soul!

Actually, most people thought he was black before his first performance. Many people actually still do.

I understand! This whole time I thought Bobby Caldwell was black because my local R&B radio stations played his music all the time. I'm not judging or anything. I LOVE this song, too (and the Boyz II Men version). I love blue-eyed soul like Teena Marie and Robin Thicke (which I thought was black, too) just as much as R&B. I feel really dumb, though. So, please don't beat me up.

This "Hot" track was released in '78!I was 14 and all of America knew he was "white!" So why are there so many comments referring to the pigmentation of his skin! Oh...I forgot..the majority-60% or more-comments are posted from the -30 in age generation! Mark Twain said it so eloquently: "It is better to be silent and thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove doubt!" "LISTEN TO MUSIC AND SHUT THE F@#$ UP!" Peace!

While people are commenting on his colour in a positive manner, it has no real relevance to this track. It's a GREAT SONG, simple as. whether he is white or not, the song was written from the heart, which is why so many people feel it. anything written from the heart will always transend boundaries.
