Can the polygraph machine really scientifically measure if someone is lying, or are all those graphs and numbers just pseudoscience in the service of law enforcement? Can we tell if someone is lying to us by their body language or facial expressions? Michael Shermer puts both the polygraph and lie detection to the test in this dramatic episode that features O.J.'s jury consultant lie detection expert.

Take 10 testers give them 10 questions (that we know the answers to) and see if they get them all correct. I think not. Id like to have Doug with me when the cops ask me to take the test

i can tell just by looking at the woman that she is lying as her income is based on the answers to those questions....

Indeed, what court in the world would convict a man only on the basis of the testimony of one eight year old?Courts and juries are only made up of people, after all.If people knew about polygraphs, then you would be right, but most people don't know anything more than 'they can tell if you lie' and for all intents and purposes are readly to believe they are infalable.

what court's gonna rely all or nothing on a stupid test that measures breathing and heart rate? settle down kids.

I find the statement of accuracy of 95 to 99% questionable. In uncontrolled ocnditions (IE: real life) there's no way they can know if the result is accurate, only if there's a conviction.Even if she is correct on her accuracy, that means that she's been wrong with 70 to 350 of the 7000 tests she says she's performed. That's 70 to 350 innocent people in jail or guilty people set free. As mj358 said, that's unacceptable, or should be, in a court of law.

95-99% effective? What the fuck?Is that it? Surely to be used in a court of law it had to be 99.99999999999% effective!DUMB BITCH!!!!!! FUCKIN' FAT WHORE CUNT!!!!
