That is a terrific softball swing. I bet I could have struck him out in his prime 9-10 times. All that weight shift makes you a sucker for the change.

elvisapresley68 (August 1, 2008 at 9:45 am)
Cal, you need to invite your good friend Jimmy Rice from the Red Sox to help out... You and Jimmy together would be a wonderful demonstration!!!

You know who i think is really overated is Craig Biggio...he's supposed to go to the hall, when guys like Andre Dawdson are waiting. 3000 hits shouldn't make someone automatic.
stevieVantanna (July 10, 2008 at 4:35 am)
his career hits are 14th all time not fifth. He was good. I think if he took a break once in while he would have put up even better seasons. he had about 4-5 great seasons the rest were decent-but he was consistent and when you play for a long time the numbers add up. the .340 year was a half season.

Overrated? 3,184 hits fifth all time, 431 hrs. An uncontested work ethic and obviously the record for most consectutive games. Ten straight years with over 20 hrs and 80 rbi's. Batted .340 at the age of 39. He had over 90 rbi's eight times and over 24 hrs nine times. If anything I think he's underrated. |
