it wasnt obsolete, it just needed to have air supremacy on its side, its role was as a bomber to support ground units closely, not to fight other aircraft. latewar as a tank killer they exelled, especialy in the hands of rudel who destroyed over 500 soviet tanks and a hell of alot more!

The 87 was obsolete for much of the war, much as it was a marvellous piece of engineering. It was too slow to hold up against late-war fighters. The Germans planned to build a carrier and may have begun construction but never completed it.
