That's because 7 is character driven. Most of its developments are based around Fire Bomber and Diamond Force, rather than on what's happening in the Galaxy.So, seeing as how I liked the characters, I liked it.

Do you people actually like Macross 7? I mean, the robots are cool, and the songs are good and all, but the plot is just damn stupid. Even worse in the OVA.

Ehhh... I wouldn't say Macross 7 as a whole is as good as water is wet. I mean, what I've seen I've enjoyed so far, but I can see where someone new to Macross would have difficulty.
