You can turn in place by running both wheels on one side in the same direction and magnitude, and both on the other side in reverse direction

These are used in FIRST robotics all the time --each wheel has its own independent drive, and when the front wheel spins forward and the rear wheel (on the same side) spins in reverse, it will go one direction. And opposite for the other.

These are just omni wheels. They've been used in FIRST Robotics for years now. I've seen some pretty impressive applications of them, much quicker and maneuverable than what I see in this video. |
