Rafael Mendez is without a doubt the greatest trumpet player who ever lived. If you watch this video you'll see why. The effortlessness in which he goes through extraordinarily difficult passages is unbelievable. And while still playing majestically and musically keeps his performance from being nothing but technicality. In this video he is performing Jota #2 with the David Rose Orchestra. There are a few more performances I have so look out for them in the near future.

Piece of cake, I can play like that half drunk, or maybe being half drunk makes me think I can. Actually beyond belief.

Tee tee kee isn't different from tu tu ku or ta ta ka, they put those vowels in to make you think of the "ee" sound and that makes your lips and tongue move cleaner and quicker. It's good that you use the Arban method.

You've heard right and you listened well my friend.

He is the greatest ever, because he was the FIRST to make it a solo classical instrument. Maurice and everyone else, as great as they were and are, follow Raphael. IMHO

You don't actually need to circular breath, a great trumpet player I know and the people in his section all say the same thing: practice with air enough and you will have enough to last until a breath with some left over. Also, music is meant to have spaces so to circular breath actually defeats some of the finer points of music playing, as a well timed breath can be just as important as a good crescendo in the professional world. Or so I have heard.

well, da da gah is sometiems advised against becasue it can make a sloppy sound, and, the one reccomended by arban ins tee tee kee.
