A friend and I firing a variety of 50 BMG and 7.62 NATO Armor Piercing rounds through a steel plate. You can also see some Canadian .303 incendiary rounds pounding the plate with dramatic effect as well as some 50 BMG M17 Tracer, M48 spotter-tracer/marker-spotter being shot at distance for viewing and effect.Bullets for video this were provided for loading by http://www.polygunbag.com/

So... I would be safe behind a big Steel Plate suchas this one :DUnless people are running around with AP Rounds, which I highly doubt. This will be good to keep in mind, for I must fortify my house and property for the next Civil War :D ( or Zombie war )

It would be interesting to see if any of these rounds that didn't make it spall the steel out on the backside.

Yeah he put a plate on a moraine at an angle, and it ricocheted off the plate, then the cliff face, and bounced back at him. My shot is low angle, with little deflection, downhill. You are right, shooting at steel is a bad idea. I am a certified jackass, unless you are qualified or certified by the sanctioning body, never perform these tests yourself...EVER!

It's good to see that you put the target at least 100 yards out. If you've ever seen that video where a guy shot a .50 at a similar metal object at what looked to be 50 yards, he gets his ear muffs removed by a ricochet.
