Old and new Katatonia is amazing. New has also dark atmosphere as old ! Katatonia Rules.

Well there really isn't something that can be called "dark metal", Katatonia started out as Doom metal with black influence, and slowly turned to a more gothic rock sound.

Should it be metal? Why dont you just accept the band as they are. The atmosphere of their songs are really depressed which I like...
