I don't think that comparing Cliff, Jason and Robert is really fair. They each play different styles and all 3 are great in their own right. My preference is for Cliff Burton because I think he was WAY ahead of his time, but I don't see a need for comparison. I also remember Robert from Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves. Both were great as well. Change can be good or bad, but it's subjective to the observer. Each incarnation of Metallica has been good in its own way.

The version that I have of this solo, the slapping part of it at the beginning which is remeniscent of the jungle, he plays it much funkier in this version.

Hey I have the version of this that he played in Dublin in 2004. He's an animal on the bass

This is such a Awesome solo, 4:25 onwards is absolutely amazing. He's such a talented bassist, i just dont get how people say he's rubbish.

i dont care what you are saying, i couldnt have imagined a better bass player to step into cliffs footsteps. hes kreativ, (this solo sounds great!!) and hes got a way better attitude and stage presence than shit face jason newstead! dont expect a second cliff burton you idiots! and i think hes technique is even better than cliffs was at the time, but that could be because of less quality in the old recordings. they both rule as shit!!!

NOOO!!! Stop saying that, cliff burton is no where near the best, maybe in the metal genre, but in general, I think not
